Why Pa’lante
Pa’lante means onward.
A contraction of the Spanish phrase ‘para adelante’, the term was coined by the Young Lords Party, a Puerto Rican civil rights group, in the 1960s.
For me, Pa’lante conjures resilience, conviction, and possibility; gratitude for my ancestors; and hope for a future in which we can all be whole.
As long as there is systemic, identity-based injustice…Pa’lante.
